# RSUP Token Staking / Unstaking

[RSUP staking](https://resupply.finance/governance/rsup) is how you earn protocol revenue (**reUSD**) and governance voting power. Staked **RSUP** ≥ the voting-power bar is also what qualifies you to create or vote on proposals.

### Stake RSUP

1. Go to **Governance → RSUP**.
2. Enter an amount (or **Max**), **Approve** RSUP, then **Stake**.
3. Your weight activates on the **next epoch boundary** (weekly epoch); newly staked **RSUP** does not count for the current epoch.

### Unstake RSUP (two steps, 14 days)

1. **Request cooldown** – pick an amount (or **Max**) and confirm. Your RSUP (and its voting power + revenue) stop earning immediately.
2. **Withdraw** after **2 epochs (\~14 days)** the RSUP is withdrawable.

Notes:

* **RSUP** in cooldown earns **nothing** (no revenue, no voting power).
* **RSUP** staked during the warm-up cannot be put into cooldown until the next epoch.

#### Unstaking RSUP

* **Request a cooldown:** This initiates a **14-day waiting period** before a withdrawal is possible.
* **Withdraw after cooldown:** Once the waiting period is over, the user can finalize the unstaking process and retrieve their RSUP tokens.

#### **Cooldown Mechanism**

* Once **RSUP** enters the cooldown state, it is no longer eligible for governance voting or staking rewards.
* Users cannot enter “cooldown” for RSUP tokens that have been staked during the warm up period until the following epoch (7 days every Thursday 00:00 utc).

#### How to Unstake

* Users input the RSUP token amount they want to move into “cooldown”.
* The **"Max"** button allows for full cooldown allocation.
* Clicking **"Request Cooldown"** initiates the 14-day unstaking process.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.resupply.finance/how-to-guides/using-resupply/rsup-token-staking-unstaking.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
